Stuart The restoration of our groups section is complete! As I mentioned, the software which runs it is no longer useable on the byte-on web site, so it has been moved over to the Milang Old School House Community Centre website. All the links have been updated and all users are still able to log in to their courses, and should find them unchanged.

StuartThe Byte-on "Groups" section is currently undergoing maintenance, and is being upgraded to the latest version of Moodle (the software which runs the site). We have been experiencing difficulties in administering the "Groups" section, and hope to resolve this soon.

Don't panic! Once complete, this maintenance will not impact the way the site works.

For now, have you checked out the "What's on?" link in the menu on the left? It gives you access to our Google Calendar of events at the Milang Old School House Community Centre... pretty nifty huh?

Stuart.

Update: Saturday 2:48pm

It turns out there is a larger issue behind our difficulties which relates to our web host's servers. Moodle has specific requirements from a web host, and it looks like this site may not come up to scratch. For now I have begun the process restoring our groups secion from backups over to Byte-on's sister site: www.moshcc.com.au

Each of our TAFE course groups are now available at groups.moshcc.com.au with the rest of our groups following shortly.

All users can log in with the same usernames and passwords.

Christmas comes early for Milang PDF Print E-mail

MOSHCCMilang SA. A disturbance in the force last week, felt by long term sufferers of Dial Up, accompanied the news that Telstra has finally enabled ADSL at the Milang exchange in South Australia.

Winner of the 2007 Australian Learning Community of the Year Award, the Milang Old School House Community Centre has jumped at the chance to make the switch to broadband, and now gives residents of Milang and surrounding areas access to a fast internet service at the centre.

"We were somewhat jokingly advertising access to our WiFi Dial-up Hot Spot," said Stuart Jones, MOSHCC's ICT Trainer and support person, "but it was no laughing matter with at least five people sharing access at a time."

"For the last three years we have been using online technologies as a part of many of our courses, as well as providing e-learning opportunities which connect the MOSHCC with people all over Australia. The award proves that there are some fantastic programs happening at the centre and in our community and that our Volunteers are some of the best in the business."

As for the centre's continuing online presence Stuart says, "You've seen what we are capable of over Dial-up. Just wait to see what we can do with broadband in 2008!"
